Danish melodramatic band Blaue Blume derived its name from a poem written by Joseph von Eichendorff. The poem’s symbol of romanticism and endeavour to perfection represents their music pretty well. The intriguing androgynous falsetto of singer Jonas Smith immediately catches everyone’s attention, without a doubt.
After the band announced their debut track “On New Years Eve” on Soundcloud in May 2013, the track gained a massive attention all around Europe on various music media and blogs. It was called the best debut track in 2013 by the hype blog Fake DIY and reached the Top50 for 2013 of “The Line of Best Fit”. They find inspiration in the drama of The Smiths, the melodic structures from the Cocteau Twins, the complexity and dynamics from “The lamb lies down on Broadway” by Genesis and the sexy “dancyness” from Roxy Music. They recently released their new album Syzygy.
On the 3th of December you can see Blaue Blume for free on the Ja Ja Ja Julefest in Berlin, the day after this Blaue Blume will play at Häkken in Hamburg, presented by Nordic by Nature.
