Check out our double selection for the final weeks of December 2017 with Björk, Valdemar, Taken By Trees, Hey Elbow, SUAD, RAINDEAR, Datarock, Vök, & SAVEUS.
Björk - Arisen My Senses
Björk continues to stun us with her mind-blowing visuals. In her latest video for ‘Arisen My Senses’ the Icelandic goddess teams up with Arca - both heroes rise up from a giant living womb and go on to explore an imaginary fantastic world.
Taken By Tress - Holiday
Taken By Trees - the solo project of the Swedish singer Victoria Bergsman - has released a wonderful Christmasy tune appropriately titled ‘Holiday’. Victoria’s lo-fi vocals are carried by a simple pop melody with just a touch of shoe gaze, resulting in a charmingly nostalgic and soothing track. Perfect in the times of post-Christmas blues!
Valdemar - Kind
Some hot indietronica/techno/house goodness, anyone? Stockholm producer Valdemar has recently released exactly that: a new track called ‘Kind’ accompanied by a rather mesmerising experimental video. It’s both psychedelic and dancey - check out for yourself below:
Hey Elbow - Tell Me
Swedish experimental trio Hey Elbow dropped a new single right before Christmas: ‘Tell Me’ develops from a lo-fi dreamy tune into a majestic orchestral ballad, layered with horns and synths.
SUAD - The Call
Out latest crush from Finland is SUAD - a fantastic singer-songwriter with a warm, soulful voice who draws inspiration from rock, blues, and pop to create her own unique sound. ‘The Call’ stems from her eponymous EP that came out in October, and now there’s also a gorgeous video to accompany this bold anthem-like track.
RAINDEAR - Diamonds In My Chest
Sweden’s Raindear aka Rebecca Begcrantz makes awesome pop, and her new track ‘Diamonds In My Chest’ is just another proof of that. Her vocals run from deep to high as the melody glimmers with all shades of Scandi pop.
Datarock - Ruffle Shuffle
Norwegian electro-rock stars Datarock have released ‘Ruffle Shuffle’, a mischievous and groovy single off their first new album in nine years. ‘Face The Brutality’ will be out in March 2018 via Bergen’s YAP Records.
Tusks - Last (Vök Remix)
Icelanders Vök aren’t a secret to anyone who knows to appreciate lush, rich electronica. Not only does the band write magnificent tracks of their own, but they also create amazing remixes. Their remix for Tusks’ ‘Last’ captivates with its icy, dark atmosphere.
SAVEUS - Time Can Heal A Man
And a perfect track to end 2017 comes from the Danish singer Martin Hedegaard aka SAVEUS: ‘Time Can Heal A Man’ sounds like a modern-time gospel, synth-soul, a shimmering banger that somehow manages to lift both your body and your spirit.
