New Music Weekly #20
March 25, 2018

Every Friday we select the best new tracks and videos from all around Scandinavia and present our editorial picks in the New Music Weekly series. This week we are featuring new Nordic releases from ANYA, JFDR, Ida Kudo, Pole Siblings, Iceage, NONONO, Lovespeake & Fred Well.

ANYA - Avalanche

With her hit singles ‘Greet Me’, ‘Doorstep’ and ‘Wasted Love’ - just to name a few - ANYA has proven herself queen of R’n’B in Denmark. The Danish singer now follows a different path with the release of her brand new single ‘Avalanche’, which adds a new pop sound to her repertoire. „It’s the beginning of a whole new era“, ANYA says. Her debut album will be released later this year!

JFDR - White Ferrari

JFDR has officially put out her amazing cover of Frank Ocean’s track ‚White Ferrari‘, which originally aired during Sigur Rós’ BBC 6 Music Christmas Mix.

Ida Kudo - Wolf

Ida Kudo’s Danish-Japanese background offers equal parts of Eastern mystique and cool Scandinavian precision. On her new single ‘Wolf’ she combines the two worlds in the most beautiful way. Artful electronic pop!

Pole Siblings - How Low

The Finnish sibling duo Pole Siblings (the project of Sofia and Johan Stolpe) just released their new single ‘How Low’, a dark and enchanting pop gem! It’s the second single from their upcoming second EP ‘Sköljer bort dig’, which will be released on April 6th via Strangers Candy.

Iceage - Take It All

After two great advance singles (‘Catch It’ and Sky Ferreira collaboration ‘Pain Killer’) from their upcoming new album ‘Beyondless’, Danish punks Iceage are back with a third: ‘Take It All‘.  The new album is due for release on May 4.

NONONO - Friends

Swedish pop band NONONO just returned with their infectious new single ‘Friends’, that marks the start of a new year for the trio from Stockholm. NONONO - consisting of singer-songwriter Stina Wäppling and producers Tobias Jimson (Astma) and Michel Flygare (Rocwell) - made a comeback in Autumn with the single ‘Masterpiece’, after two years of intense touring and promotional work worldwide. They’re now readying the release of their second album this autumn.

Lovespeake - Imagination

Norway’s Lovespeake made an ambitious introduction to the music scene with the album ‚DNA‘ and was among the top give musicians on the CMJ’s university radio lists in the US. Now the musician released his latest single called ‚Imagination‘, an infectious and uplifting tune - just perfect for the weekend!

Fred Well - More Than A Maybe

After releasing his second single Superhero back in December, Norwegian newcomer Fred Well is back with his latest tune called ‚More Than A Maybe‘. His voice has been compared among music critics to be a mixture between Sam Smith and Justin Timberlake, the production is a genre somewhere along R’n’B, pop and electronic music. He’s currently supporting Sigrid on her UK / Ireland tour.
