“‘Sadness Is Taking Over’ came originally from Shpresa reflecting on one of my worst days, at the peak of the anxiety. The chorus was the first thing to come. She’s discussing the fact that she can literally see the pain in my eyes, my mouth. My verses came as a kind of response and my own reflection on the situation. The whole song is really a conversation between us about a very dark time. But it’s also very universal as it touches to some extent on areas unrelated to our particular situation and we think a lot of people will relate to the feelings.” - Cole Randall (Flora Cash)
