Following Norway’s tradition of futuristic disco treasures like Lindstrøm, Todd Terje and Røyksopp, Tôg are another groovy diamond in the box. For their upcoming album Feiring, the Oslo based band enlisted the mixing skills of LCD Soundsystem collaborator and DFA mainstay Eric Broucek to make 45 minutes of bangers just like this one called Av Hengslene – deeply inspired by the good vibes of Jai Paul and Italo Disco, Nile Rodgers and Chicago House. To help with the songwriting process, Tôg brought in Ådne Meisfjord of the 4AD-signed Norwegian band Serena-Maneesh “to make cheesy music cool” and also “because disco and funk have as much heart as they do groove”. Feiring contains remixes by other Norwegian artists such as Prins Thomas, Skatebård, Mathias Stubø/Proviant Audio and Tarjei Nygård and will be released very soon. We are bringing Tôg to Prince Charles on Feb 6 to celebrate the funky Austin label Red Eye Transit and their great releases – more infos soon.
