Every week we select the best new tracks and videos from all around Scandinavia and present our editorial picks in the New Music Weekly series. This week we are featuring new Nordic releases from Many Voices Speak, Asbjørn, Tuvaband, Tove Styrke, Michel Young, Lykke Li and Scarlet Pleasure
Many Voices Speak – Necessaries
Swedish dream pop band Many Voices Speak have released their new track ‘Necessaries’. The song from Matilda Mård is intoxicating in its dreaminess, beginning with a quiet strum of guitar, and a slow, hushed heartbeat of percussion.
Asbjørn – We & I
One of our favorite Danish pop singers just released his second single from his upcoming album ‘BOY PWR’.
„We and I is a fuck-you-but-I-love-you kind of song. Writing it was like taking back the power over my own heart, like a personal mantra to celebrate that, despite the heartache, someone finally hit me so hard that being myself was no longer enough; it had to be we instead of I.“ – Asbjørn
Don’t miss Asbjørn perform at Berlin Midsommar Festival on June 22nd.
Tuvaband – He Was in His Bubble
Another one of our #berlinmidsommar artists has revealed her new single: Norwegian Tuvaband with ‘He Was in His Bubble’. The lo-fi sound, raw vocals, and piano only add to the haunting beauty of this track.
Tove Styrke – Sway (Official Video)
Swedish singer-songwriter Tove Styrke released the visual accompaniment to her latest single “Sway”.
Off her new album of the same name, the music video follows the journey of two handsome skaters as they shred around their neighborhood in the late hours as the pop-rock-infused lead single plays in the background.
Michel Young – Come Over
Swedish newcomer Michel Young has released his new single ‘Come Over’. He has developed a sound and style that suits his voice perfectly, and he’s sticking with it. So ‘Come Over’ exudes a retro sheen, a contemporary funk, and a super cool soul.
Lykke Li – Deep End (Official Video)
Lykke Li has dropped a new video for her track “deep end.” Watch her document a wild night entirely on an iPhone below.
Scarlet Pleasure – Mind
When life feels like a sports car drifting in endless circles what would be better than to lean your head on a soft, green forest floor and just enjoy the silence for a minute? Well, here’s some peace of mind from Danish pop trio, Scarlet Pleasure, in the excellent video for their upcoming new single, ‘Mind’.
