Every week we select the best new tracks and videos from all around Scandinavia and present our editorial picks in the New Music Weekly series. This week we are featuring new Nordic releases from Silvana Imam, AURORA, Vil, LIONMAN, Drew, Jenny Wilson, Tove Styrke, Goss & Summer Heart.
Silvana Imam - Vikken Då
‘Vikken Då’ is Silvana Imam’s first single from her upcoming new album! The single is a blow for a wave of change that need to happen in our society and is released on her own label Naturkraft. Check out the video below:
AURORA - Queendom (Video)
Two weeks ago AURORA returned with her new single ‘Queendom’ after the release of her great debut album ‘All My Demons Greeting Me As A Friend’ back in 2016. Now the official video of the single was released! The video was shot by Polish / Australian director Kinga Burza, who has also made videos for Dua Lipa, Ellie Goulding and Katy Perry.
“Queendom is about celebrating all the differences in us. It’s about celebrating the women and the children and animals and the men also. The quiet ones and the introverts, where they can sing and be seen. It’s about the shy people and the lonely people and I hope it can be a place where we can come and be lonely together and then not be lonely anymore. Queendom is a place for all of us.” – AURORA
Vil - Uden
Danish-Icelandic duo Vil - who already fascinated us with the quiet soundscapes of their debut album last year - will soon release a new EP. “Uden” is the first sneak peak into what the band has been working on.
LIONMAN - Don’t You Dare
Meet LIONMAN: 22-year-old Swedish newcomer who merges electronica, soul, and pop. His debut single “Don’t You Dare” is a contagiously feel-good result of this mixture, and now there’s a fittingly sleek visual for the track:
Drew - Hard to Love
Even if the name of her new single may suggest otherwise, Danish-British singer Drew is anything but hard to love. “Hard to Love” showcases her strong and simultaneously vulnerable vocals developing over pounding beats and sweet acoustic patches. We can’t wait to hear more of what this artist has in store.
Jenny Wilson - It Hurts
Sweden’s Jenny Wilson dropped her fifth album “EXORCISM” earlier this year - an experimental, electronic, thought-provoking, personal, sometimes unsettling, but all in all fascinating and compelling collection of songs. If you’re not sure where to start, try “IT HURTS” - the single’s radio and instrumental versions have just been released:
Tove Styrke - Sway
Tove Styrke is no longer a secret tip for all the connoisseurs of Scandinavian electro-pop: the 25-year-old Swede has already toured with Years & Years, opened for Lorde, and has been nominated for Grammy in her home country. Her banger-filled third album “Sway” has just been released via Sony Music, and in the next weeks the young singer will be touring Europe with none other than Katy Perry.
Goss - These Days. I Don’t Know
Danish alt-pop artist Goss is presenting us with ‘These Days. I Don’t Know’ the first single of 2018 after he had a really busy year in 2017 with the release of his debut EP called ‘Healthcare’ and the co-writing of ‘Kamikaze’, the global hit from MØ. He’s also supporting SOHN on his European Tour in May. Also check out this brilliant Color Session of the track:
Summer Heart - I Got This Thing For You
Swedish dream pop artist Summer Heart makes his return with his new single ‘I Got This Thing For You’, which is also a part of his ’12 Songs of Summer’ collection, where he releases a new track every month for the year.
