Sometimes one just really needs a change. Mattis Jakobsen from Copenhagen - aka MATTIS - used to play punk rock, but has recently decided to mix it up a little bit and follow his passion for soul and electronica. Inspired by the likes of James Blake & Sampha, Mattis added a few Scandinavian touches - that signature nordic sleekness and sharpness of sound - and ended up with what he describes as “viking soul.” His solo debut single ‘Loverboy‘ hit the stands last week - and oh boy, it shows a lot of potential of this new genre.

The song describes the post-break-up experience of Mattis himself: all the loneliness, emptiness, confusion, and purposelessness. “No one breaks through,” he sings in the chorus - but we say that with a sweet sound like this MATTIS definitely has got good chances to prove this assertion wrong!
