Asbjørn is known for his beguiling pop songs and his mission to break gender norms. This year, with BOY PWR, he is back with a pop-political punch in the face, demanding boys to rebel against stereotypes and change the male ideal. In November 2017 he was signed to Virgin (Universal Music) in Germany, and the first song, Nothing 2 Lose off his forthcoming album, was released on February 23. His new single We & I will be out on May 18th. In his six-year career, Asbjørnhas found devoted followers all over the world, and the idea for BOY PWR came from interaction with fans, often writing their (life) stories to him on social media. With his two experimental pop albums Sunken Ships (2012) and Pseudo Visions (2015), Asbjørn has marked his spot on the international scene. Until recently Asbjørn lived in Berlin but he is currently living and working in Copenhagen.
On June 22nd Asbjørn returns to Berlin with his new band that among others features Berlin-based La Boum Fatale in order to play the Berlin Midsommar Festival – one of his personal favourites: - “I can’t wait to be on stage at Midsommar after being a guest for the last three years. It’s one of my favorite traditions in Berlin, and I am so excited to see the beautiful peeps with flower hats dancing with me into the warm summer night!”
Oslo-based TUVABAND is the creation of Norwegian singer songwriter Tuva Hellum Marschhäuser. Blending lo-fi production, reverb-drenched guitars and catchy vocal layering, her captivating sound draws comparisons to the likes of Bon Iver and Laura Marling. The runaway success of debut single, ‘Unknown’, was unsurprising; championed by Phil Taggart on BBC Radio 1 and prompting The Guardian to name her as ‘Ones to Watch’, the track has amassed more than 11 million Spotify streams, following a jaw-dropping set at SXSW. Fall 2017 saw the release of debut EP ‘Mess’, coinciding with a critically-acclaimed performance at Mirrors Festival in London. 2018 is set to see the rise of Tuvaband continue.. We are excited to hear her beautiful voice on Midsommar.
Adam Öhman, known as Mountain Bird is a Stockholm-based producer creating a world of indie-electronica. Synth laden melodies and melancholic beats paint a picture of dreamy Scandinavian melancholy. BBC Radio 2’s Steve Lamacq, Radio X, Absolute Radio and numerous online channels have already warmed to the 80’s inspired analogue synth sound. Mountain Bird releases his new EP ‘Cubism’ on April 27. The EP is his first for Nettwerk Records, after signing a worldwide deal in the beginning of 2018. His recent releases on Swedish tastemaker label, HMWL, ‘Circus’ and ‘Hearts To Gold’ both went Spotify viral, got shortlisted by Spotify editors as Top 100 Indie tracks of the year. Mountain Bird was recently touring Europe with VÖK.
LALUME are a Berlin based Norwegian/Australian electro-pop duo formed in 2017 whilst studying electronic music production at university in Berlin. With almost no budget the duo were able to gather a team of creatives to work with them on their project. “LALUME is a project built from love, everyone involved has generously given their skills and time to help us grow and we hope to be able to pay them back one day.” From day one the band have crafted catchy tunes with poignant lyrics whilst remaining “genre fluid”. Their music could be described as being a patchwork of styles and eras weaving classical vocals, poetry and mythological elements into electronic beats and catchy synth-pop melodies.
Born in Sweden and currently based in Berlin, Linnéa Palmestål is a resident DJ at the popular TRADE party at OHM, as well as the main teacher and co-founder of the No Shade mentoring and training program for female identifying and non-binary beginner DJ’s. LINNÉA’s energizing, au-courant sets span glossy trap, futuristic grime, R&B, neo-reggaeton and other hybrid styles that challenge the Euro step/touch hegemony. LINNÉA’s first EP is currently in the works and a release is to be expected in 2018.
Lockereasy are the female Siegfried and Roy of the dance floor. According to their own statements, they are very good. And for sure: Here, anybody who’s dancing, feels like they’re making out with a Bengal tiger. 80s, 90s, and the best of today - with their unique supermix, playing clubs from Halle to Berlin. Whether they’re playing at the Fashion Week or at SO36 - no matter how full the guest list: One thing is certain, the club will be blown up before anyone can say “Falco”. There is a reason why we have invited Lockereasy the third time to play at Berlin Midsommar. Grab your chance to find out why on June 22nd!
