Copenhagen-based musician and producer Benjamin Fischermann alias Shadow Age creates music which is haunting yet evanescent: he builds gloomy electronic soundscapes washed in a cascading darkness—a darkness that merges, disappears and lingers precisely like a shadow. His debut EP ‘Shadow Age’, which includes four hard-hitting and melancholic tracks, is set for release today via Copenhagen label Native Of The North. So go ahead and listen—because Shadow Age is a darkness you’ll enjoy.
You can listen to his EP on our AOTW Spotify Playlist. Also, don’t forget to step by our nordic_by_nature instagram to see what Shadow Age is up to as he takes over our Instagram. As usual, we have asked our Artist of the Week five creamy questions and here are his five creamy answers:
Explain the evolution of Shadow Age in five words.
Random, Creative, Inspired, Frustrated, Satisfied.
What song would you love to have written?
I think it has to be ‘Sweet Thing’. A hidden treasure in David Bowie’s back catalogue.
Is there a typical scandinavian sound?
Yeah I do think there is, or at least in Denmark. I don’t believe there’s an overall type of sound, but I believe there is in the different genres. I think there’s a typical sound in pop music that takes great inspiration from the 80’s. You can also see the 80’s inspiration in punk music that also seems to be more popular in Denmark these days. There’s so much different music today, and it’s hard to keep up. So maybe I’m totally off!
Are you doing okay?
I’m doing great. Thanks!
What question would you like to ask the next weeks artist of the week?
In your opinion who’s the most influential and important musical group/artist of all time?
