What comes to your mind when you hear the words “symphony concert”? Completely unrelatable and seemingly never-ending music pieces? Stern-looking people in posh evening attire? Highly standardized etiquette? Whether the thought of a symphony concert makes you shiver with terror, yawn with boredom, or, on the contrary, charges you with excitement, we are pretty sure that Casual Concerts organized by The Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester (DSO) Berlin will rock your world!
The DSO has come up with its groundbreaking concept of Casual Concerts to revolutionize the traditional form of a symphony concert. Casual Concerts are comprised of two parts: an actual orchestra performance and the so-called Casual Concert Lounge. First, the audience is introduced, in a most communicative and open way possible, to a certain work of classical music. After that, an exciting contemporary live act takes over the lead at the Lounge, accompanied by DJ in Residence Johann Fanger. This concert format bridges the gap between old and new, classical and popular, thereby offering a truly unique and fulfilling music experience.
We are happy to let you know that Asbjørn will be part of the next Casual Concert Lounge on May 22, 2017 at Berliner Philharmonie! Not only do you get a chance to listen to a symphony orchestra led by Sir Roger Norrington in a laid-back atmosphere, but also to indulge into some contemporary music by Asbjørn and DJ Johann Fanger!
With his two experimental pop albums “Sunken Ships” (2012) and “Pseudo Visions” (2015), Asbjørn has already marked his spot on the international scene. In his latest single “BOY PWR” – from the same-titled forthcoming album – he addresses the questions of masculinity and criticizes the lack of diversity for men in pop culture.
